We're now two hours into the four hour department Christmas party, and I'm sitting at home trying to decide if I have time to make an appearance. On the one hand, lots of free food, unlimited free booze, and a bunch of people to whom I made promises that I'd attend. On the other hand, a major unfinished project, a supervisor who is undoubtedly getting increasingly irritated, and the possibility that if I don't finish, I simply won't be here next year. Decisions, decisions...
