(no subject)

We just had yet another false fire alarm. That's the fourth one I've been here for since I moved in here five months ago, or just under one per month. That's more false alarms than I suffered through in 1.5 years of residence. I'm not amused. Nineteen flights of stairs may be good exercise, but I don't have time for it today.

Nineteen floors are no joke, indeed. If it makes you feel better, our fire alarm goes off everytime we use the stove or oven. Too much heat or the slightest bit of smoke, say when we fry something, bang goes the earsplitting alarm. It's also hardwired so we can't remove the batteries. :P

Wanna swap?

Well, I haven't met my two year residency requirement yet. Plus, I doubt I could afford New York rent. ;)

Every time you use the stove or oven? Ouch!

Daryl had that problem yesterday too. It went off, and went off and went off and went off... Late into the night. These things are so strange...

He must not have been happy about that. Especially late at night.

Heh.. more than three a month and the TFS fines you $2500 (I think) per. Of course, if you spend that money to make sure that it stops (ie if someone keeps falsing a pull station, and you put in a 2500 dollar boxed video system to make them stop) then you will not have to pay the fine. I was told they are pretty lenient with it.

Well, we've had two or three days of work on the fire alarms since I moved in here (which I know because whenever they work on them, we get a day of the alarms going off at random). So I suppose they're trying to fix whatever's causing the false alarms.
