VHMT

Voluntary Human Extinction Movement.

I can't decide if this is a joke or not. They claim to be serious, but then Landover Baptist looks real too, and it's not. I'm just unsure enough to be glad that they don't advocate taking an active role in bringing about the extinction of the human race. It's interesting trying to wrap my head around their value system, though.

Ha! I remember getting into an e-mail spat with Les Knight ('VeHEMenT's founder) almost 10 years ago (maybe more like 7 or 8). I see that he's been quite successful in the interim period. That makes me wonder where all that e-mail is. I don't even know where that file is.

I can't believe I just admitted to that. But, yes, he's serious.

You really have talked to all the net.personalities, haven't you?

If he's serious, then I'm really glad they're taking a fairly passive approach.

I have this simply theory: no one on the Internet is famous. If you e-mail them, they'll reply. If you have enough time to be on the Internet long enough to be net.famous, you likely have nothing better to do. So, I just e-mail anyone whom I feel vaguely curious about.

Conversely, I never reply to my e-mail.

I'm fairly positive it is not a joke (although I could be wrong). It's been mentioned in the childfree communitee (although not recently) before.

So that's two votes for it being real, plus the VHMT volunteer who originally brought it to my attention. Interesting. I wonder how many people have embraced that movement?

Well...

"Embracing" this movement seems vaguely oxymoronic to me, but I'm perhaps too redblooded for their liking...

Dude! My beliefs all along! And there is a whole MOVEMENT that agrees with me! Sweet! Bwahahahahaha! I am a volunteer! Woo!
