The trip planning is slowly coming together. [livejournal.com profile] villagechick, we're going to drive from Philadelphia to New York on the 16th, and leave on the 17th for Providence. I'll email you soon to see if there's any chance we can meet you and VB then.

[livejournal.com profile] semiotic_trader and [livejournal.com profile] a_just_society, we decided to skip Montreal so as not to intefere with your packing. Instead, we're going to see Quebec City, which neither of us has been to. Have you guys been there? Do you have any suggestions for places to stay or things to see?

When we were in Quebec City, we stayed at the Maison Acadienne www.maison-acadienne.com which was nice enough, although not overly special. Its main benefit was location within the old city walls, which does, unfortunately, make it pricey. All hotels in the old city will be expensive. Those outside are not as bad, but are also not walking distance to downtown for the most part. We've also stayed at Loews Le Concorde, which is a giant towering monster, and walking distance to the old city and some touristy restaurants.

You must go for a walk along the Terrace. Also worth visiting is the restaurant Le Cochon Dingue, which is in the lower old city, where they make a strawberry cheesecake that is to die for. Le Lapin Saute, also in the lower old city, is also quite nice for food. Quebec City is really all about wandering the old city, both upper and lower.
