I finished my last yoga class last night. It got off to a slow start, but by the end, I was starting to see signs of increased flexibility in my hamstrings. And I suspect it's good for my spine. Overall, though, I didn't fall in love with it the way some of my friends have. The sign up for next term is December 8th, and I'm trying to decide whether I should sign up again, or sign up for the lessons being offered in my department starting in December (and pay $7 a class instead of $6, with the convenience of doing the lessons here rather than across campus), or whether I should drop yoga and hibernate for the winter. Or possibly take up something else, like pilates or salsa dancing.

I've spent the past 3 1/2 hours coding blogs, and I am slowly going crazy. Or maybe the craziness is coming from the fact that all I've eaten today is one bowl of instant oatmeal and two granola bars.

One hour and ten minutes until B returns from the gym and we can go home and eat supper.

I've never been able to get into yoga the way some part of my brain thinks I should.

I'm currently averaging 1-2 classes/year.

I haven't personally caught salsa fever, but it has infected many good friends (and one little sister) of mine. They live and breathe salsa. I'd suggest finding something to pull you through the winter - hibernating is usually more depressing than it sounds...

But if I sign up for something, I have to go outside this winter, and it's coooold out there.

Maybe if I sign up for something with someone else...I know B was kinda interested in salsa.

Or perhaps I should try tai-chi, since yoga isn't working. Or yoga with a different teacher, to see if that's the problem.

Tai chi is great! I loved it.

If only I could find an instructor here in Sackville...

Even with a whole university, there's no one teaching tai chi? Or can you just not access university services?

What did you like about it?

Remember that the concept of "a whole university" is very different when you're dealing with 2,250 students rather than 50,000 students ;)

As for what I liked about it, I found it was very relaxing, and helped me centre myself after a long day at work. It improved my balance noticeably while I was doing it, and is great for your lower back. And frankly, it was just fun!
