I hate it when coffee shops get my order wrong. A minor complaint, I know, but it's an issue that's been reoccurring for me lately. Last week, Starbucks gave me peppermint hot chocolate instead of the peppermint mocha that I ordered (and paid for), and today Second Cup gave me a plain latte instead of the maple latte that I ordered (and paid for). Notice how they always give a cheaper drink than the one ordered? The hot chocolate wasn't a big deal--I like that well enough, and it was fairly similar to what I had ordered. But I don't drink plain lattes (I find coffee undrinkable without massive amounts of sugary flavouring), so today the whole latte is going down the drain, and I'm out $3.50 and the caffeine that I was hoping would enable me to do work.

I'm one step closer to understanding your journal icon. I just read that issue of Sandman, so now I know it's Dream. I'm still not sure how Max Weber fits into it.

In regards to your post: I only drink black coffee, so I'm not used to getting wrong orders.

I'll help you out, 'cause I don't think it's possible to figure it out without additional information. The icon was a gift from another LJ user, based on my listed interests. She decided which interests to use, so I don't know if she made any links between Gaiman and Weber beyond the fact that they were both listed. I don't have any in mind, though I'm sure we could come up with some if we tried...

It sucks when they get the order wrong. The starbucks I normally go to is really good about fixing orders. If anything goes wrong (like I have to wait to long, or I spill my drink...) they usually upsize it (and definately replace it for free). You should have let them know at both places and they would have rectified it.

I still find it hard to believe you dumped an entire latte down the drain... What a shame...

Well, my other problem is that I like my drinks lukewarm, not hot. I burn my tongue on hot. So it was thirty minutes before I noticed that the drink was wrong, and I felt silly going back then.
