List of Minor Irritations

1. It's a wet, dreary day



2. My XP taskbar refuses to display icons for any of the programs I'm running. Restarting didn't help. Switching between programs is painful.



3. One on of the elevators in my building is on service and a second one is being repaired, leaving only one elevator for twenty floors. The one elevator that is usable often won't go to the 20th floor (i.e. the floor I live on).



4. I just spilled hot chocolate down the front of my white shirt.



5. Turnout for the municipal elections yesterday was about 40%. At least everyone I voted for won...

Sounds crummy. You should make yourself a nice warm bubble-bath, light some candles, and curl up with a nice book. I would suggest a nice glass of wine, too, but you don't drink wine...

I wish I did drink wine, because we have four open bottles sitting in the kitchen and I'm going to feel really guilty when I finally pour them down the drain. The rest sounds nice, but it'll have to wait until after 101 this evening.

Four open bottles!? See the thing about wine is, it goes bad. You should really only open one bottle at a time ;)

See the thing is, as you noted yourself in your original comment, I don't drink wine. From this you may reasonably conclude that I didn't open the bottles. Well, most of them anyway. I did open the one bottle of white wine to use in a recipe. The rest, however, are there courtesy of my roommate, who opens a new bottle every time he has dinner guests and then never finishes it because he barely drinks more wine than I do.

Unrefrigerated, white wine only keeps a couple of days; refrigerated, only about 4 or 5. Red wine keeps a little longer: around a week or two. If you've got white wine that's a week or more old, or red wine after two weeks, don't even smell it: just toss it.
