Happy birthday to Netwoman! Anyone interested in the intersection of technology and gender should check out her blog.

Taken from Netwoman (and a few LJers), my results from Twenty Questions to a Better Personality:

You are an SEDF--Sober Emotional Destructive Follower. This makes you an evil genius. You are extremely focused and difficult to distract from your tasks. With luck, you have learned to channel your energies into improving your intellect, rather than destroying the weak and unsuspecting.

Your friends may find you remote and a hard nut to crack. Few of your peers know you very well--even those you have known a long time--because you have expert control of the face you put forth to the world. You prefer to observe, calculate, discern and decide. Your decisions are final, and your desire to be right is impenetrable.

You are not to be messed with. You may explode.

Being an evil genius is always fun, and I do indeed enjoy observing and calculating, but I don't think I'm that fixated on being right. Factually correct, yes, but but I don't have to have the last word on everything. As for remote...maybe.

This is actually the second time I've taken that test. The first time, I got:

You are an SRDF--Sober Rational Destructive Follower. This makes you a font of knowledge. You are cool, analytical, intelligent and completely unfunny. Sometimes you slice through conversation with a cutting observation that causes silence and sidelong glances. You make a strong and lasting impression on everyone you meet, the quality of which depends more on their personality than yours.

You may feel persecuted, as you can become a target for fun. Still, you are focused enough on your work and secure enough in your abilities not to worry overly.

You are productive and invaluable to those you work for. You are loyal, steadfast, and conscientious. Your grooming is impeccable. You are in good shape.

You are kind of a tool, but you get things done. You are probably a week away from snapping.

Addendum, 2004/07/19: this fits me 99%, there is a slight inaccuracy however. We are not necessarily completely unfunny. If we have a sense of humor (I do) it surfaces on the occasion with well-timed, completely dry, very sarcastic, wit. - Chase

Apparently I'm very borderline on the rational/emotional side (which oddly enough, holds true in the Keirsey/Myers-Briggs tests too). Actually, I was borderline on everything except the wacky/sober scale. I'm very, very sober. *maniacal grin*

Seriously, there's lots in there that's accurate, which perhaps reflects a generality in the descriptions that allows people to read what they want. Or maybe I'm just amorphous. As long as I'm smart (and sober), that's what really counts.

SEDL - Sober Emotional Destructive Leader. I'm a dictator. Not so sure I want to print "I'm a dictator" out on a tshirt anytime soon, but the results were frighteningly accurate...
I also hedge on the Myers-Briggs etc. It just means we're delightfully complicated...

Yes, delightfully complicated. I like tha. Much better than "confusingly contradictory" or "compulsively indecisive". I think I'll use delightfully complicated if I ever decide to put up a personal ad...

SRDL--Sober Rational Destructive Leader. I'm a mob boss apparently. I think I like that...

I notice that everyone on my friends list seems to be sober too. Interesting...
